How to Get to Dubrovnik
Reaching Dubrovnik is straightforward, and there are several options depending on how you like to travel. The majority of visitors choose to fly, and Dubrovnik Airport – Ruđer Bošković Airport, located around 22 kilometres from the historic Old City, is the main gateway. The airport is connected to many European cities throughout the year, with even more seasonal flights in the summer months. On arrival, travellers can continue their journey into the city by shuttle bus, taxi, private transfer, or car rental.
For those who prefer the sea, Dubrovnik is also well connected by boat. The ferry port in Gruž welcomes regular services from Split and the Dalmatian islands, while in the summer months there are international ferries linking Dubrovnik with Bari in Italy. Cruise ships also frequently dock in Dubrovnik.
If you are travelling by car, the journey is just as scenic. Guests usually use the A1 motorway as the main connection through Croatia, before joining the Adriatic Highway for the final stretch along the coast. Thanks to the Pelješac Bridge, reaching Dubrovnik has never been easier, the modern bridge connects southern Dalmatia with the rest of the country directly, avoiding border crossings and making the drive both smoother and more enjoyable. There are also long-distance bus connections linking Dubrovnik with Zagreb, Split, Sarajevo, and Montenegro, offering a comfortable and affordable alternative to flying.
