Around 1630, an unknown builder constructed the Church of Our Lady of Mount Carmel over the small Church of St. John, giving the entire surrounding district its name.
The spatial layout, façade, and decorative elements of this church—named after Mount Carmel in Israel—are in the Baroque style.
Inside, the church features altarpieces by Italian Baroque painters: S. Ricci from the 18th century, A. Vaccaro from the 17th century, and G. A. Canini, painted in 1641. Also notable are a Baroque ceiling painting on canvas and a later-installed stone statue of St. Blaise from the 15th century.
