Dubrovnik Celebrates World Music Day with Concerts, Ballet, and International Ensembles

Dubrovnik will celebrate World Music Day with a multi-day event and a diverse program featuring concerts, ballet, an exhibition, and performances by both domestic and international ensembles, it was announced on Wednesday at a press conference held at the Crijević-Pucić Summer Residence in Dubrovnik.

The celebration will open on Thursday, June 19, with a concert by the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra (DSO) at the Rector’s Palace, titled “100 Years of the Orchestra and 200 Years Since the Birth of Johann Strauss II.” Joining the DSO under the baton of conductor Ivan Hut will be Croatian soprano Marija Vidović and renowned Mexican tenor Francisco Araiza.

The following day will feature a “double program”: the premiere of the ballet performance “Othello”, co-produced with the Croatian National Theatre Varaždin, at the Marin Držić Theatre, and a concert by the Polish national ensemble Mazowsze at the Franciscan Church.

On Saturday, cellist Ana Rucner will perform her traditional early-morning concert “Greeting to Summer” on Srđ Hill.
