Anita Sulimanovic is a San Francisco Bay Area based visual artist and educatorworking in a broad range of art materials and processes. From drawing,photography and printmaking, to performance, video and sound pieces, butmost often sculpture and site-specific art.Born in Croatia, she studied painting at the School of Applied Art, completedher BFA studies in sculpture at the Zagreb Academy of Fine Arts and graduatedwith an MFA in Sculpture at the Edinburgh College of Art in Scotland.Upon immigrating to the US in 2008 she founded Studio 1.6 Art School whereshe teaches studio art disciplines. She has also taught visual arts at OaklandSchool for the Arts.Anita’s work has been shown locally and internationally, most recently at ProArts Oakland and Rhythmix Cultural Works; she’s also exhibited in Hawaii,Pennsylvania, Belgium, the Czech Republic, France, Germany, Luxembourg,Poland, South Korea, and the UK. She received the Honorary AIR Award atKala Art Institute, as well as the IMA-Fellowship of the New York Foundationfor the Arts. She is the designer of the “Planet Award” sculpture for theBBC World Music Awards and she made five public sculptures in the US andEurope.
